Every woman and man I have talked about skin health with, has always had some kind of issue whether it is acne, dryness, loose skin or sun spots.
So I did some research for all you Munsters out there, so that you can all have beautiful skin!
We all like to eat, I mean we have to… but it is still enjoyable! Here are 6 foods that can help your skin, and they are not hard to incorporate into your daily diet!
Almonds
Eating almonds is wonderful your complexion… they also taste great and are a source of antioxidants! Almonds have essential fatty acids and can help maintain low cholesterol; they also are a rich source of Vitamin E which is essential for healthy skin. Almonds can be used to make skin soft, and smooth. If you want to eat the actual nut that is wonderful! But, to help your skin even MORE try buying almond oil. To make a wonderful face mask just mix almond oil, honey and lemon juice and use it as a moisturizing mask. The oils are absorbed by the skin leaving it smooth, and it can also reduce the appearance of fine lines PLUS your skin will no longer be dry. If you are in a rush and can’t be bothered with the mask drink some Almond Milk! I promise you will see results and fast!
Dark Chocolate
I don’t think any of you Munsters will have to force yourself to eat a bit of chocolate, we all love it! So, since the antioxidants in Cacao defend free radicals (harmful pollution, radiation, smoke, chemicals etc…), there is a possibility that it can help with wrinkles and discoloration of the skin. HOWEVER, make sure to get chocolate that has over 50% cacao, and aim for about 1-3 ounces per day. Dark chocolate helps reduce dryness, rough skin, and it increases blood flow to the skin. Great for summer eating too…dark chocolate also absorbs some UV light from the sun!
Flax Seed
Flax seeds have wonderful oil in them which have high levels of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. Flax seed oil is beneficial in healing scars and can do wonders on dry and itchy skin. You can eat flax seed by sprinkling it on cereal or putting it in water and drinking it.
Spinach
These leaves are very high in nutrients and antioxidants. This, in the long run can help your skin glow… An easy way to incorporate in your diet: salad, shakes (they actually taste amazing!), and spinach pizza!
Tuna
Tuna is an excellent source of protein. It builds material for muscle, blood, skin, nails, hair etc. So basically, once a week try to eat a tuna fish sandwich! Tuna contains selenium…this nutrient helps preserve elastin so it keeps your skin tight and smooth! Tuna is a great way to fight acne as well, since it helps to build “fresh” skin!
Tomatoes
Tomatoes are one of those delicious things people eat all the time…on sandwiches, pizza, in salads… who would of guessed those tasty little morsels were wonderful for not only your insides but your skin too! Tomatoes contain antioxidants and nutrients like calcium, manganese, and potassium. Tomatoes can help get the red out of sunburn, and can help you get a glowing and radiant face! Lycopene, the phytochemical that makes tomatoes red, helps eliminate skin-aging free radicals (pollution, chemicals etc…)! Even more reason to eat tomatoes now!
